book must happen

back in LA for a good stretch, working on a super fun show randy cunningham, SUPER talented fun board group. show is really funny, and gives board artists so much freedom to just go nuts and bring awesome to the table. Not exactly the case most of the time especially from the sometimes too uptight action adventure structure anyhow....
wanted to mention that probably since no one even knows i'm a board artist. don't really ever feel like talking about animation stuff, even though its great fun "most" of the time
lazer beam focused on writing, creating and producing my personal comic work. kind of destroying the planning stages so that I get the idea and just take it to the page. where before I would rough out complete graphic novels, waste time designing characters that had no story or purpose get busy with work, burn out or both.  now I write small scenes, work on moments I know need to happen draw a few rough shots and start working on the page. I've also gotten rid of doing layouts blowing them up printing lightboxing, etc, too much time, too much energy wasted for me right now. So I'm figuring out layouts and shots and dialogue on the page. working to size european scale 9x12. I'm a messy drawer and I don't want my drawings getting "tight" because of size reduction, i want you to see those messy scribbles at actual size, a lot will get drowned out in color anyhow...i hope not, I will need to strike the balance of painterly colors and my over rendered inks hahah. so check out dogmeatsausage on instagram and tumblr you will be able to see this book come together from scratch. at some point I'll pull some stuff back so there's some surprises but I dont know how the story will grow and develop or how the whole book will come together but if your interested I will be sharing every bit of the process. it's been way too long i need to see a complete story with my name on it. comics are brutal work but it's the best

I for one am really interested in the project. Your thoughts on preplanning are enlightening. I am working on my own one-shot issue at the moment and am bogged down. Short stories that are a satisfying whole are hard to write!
