The Dark Knight
Thanks to some friends at WB animation I was able to see the employee screening of the Dark Knight Tuesday. I have followed this movie for it's entire gestation period and my expectations and hopes were sky, having loved Nolan's interpretation and imagination applied to Batman's legendary mythos. After seeing this film I felt like it was the first time in far too long to finally see a great film. If nothing else this film has made my turn and reflect with even greater scrutiny what passes for a movie these past years. This film is on a whole other level. To simply compare this to other super-hero movies or any other comic films is a huge disservice, but if you must there's absolutley no question which one stands head and shoulders above the rest. The movie reached a level of intensity and emotion that seemed so foreign, I can scarcely remember having those feelings in a movie theater. To me this is the definitive Batman, obviously owing a great deal to the greatest of batman tales, Miller responsible for most, but here I see the Batman and now the joker and the gotham and the world that lied just beyond the comic and ,possibly because the safer nature of it, the animation's grasp. It's an amazing feat the Nolan's and everyone involved have achieved, a brilliant work that shows the depth and maturity fantasy is capable of. The next crop of comic films, action dramas, crime stories, hell even horror are really gonna have to step up their game. This is how it's done folks.
Oh yeah, you've never seen anything like Heath Ledgers Joker, what a performance!

Hulk Smash mediocre remake!
i know people are super touchy about super hero movies, almost as bad as game console loyalty but i just feel like talking about them for a moment. my super hero movie taste is a bit specific and I tend to not like ones many seem to enjoy. my biggest issue with super-hero movies is lack of cinematography and any sort of aesthetic. for that very reason and some others the original superman and batman begins are pretty much the only films I have any warm feelings for. The spiderman movies make me sick to my stomach. iron man was entertaining but felt cheap, predictable, and claustrophobic... set wise...one more scene in starks basement and i would have shot myself. and iron man itself doesn't even have any character. whatever, anyhow this new hulk was surprisingly much uglier cg then the first and hulk did way less interesting stuff then he did in the first movie... it's sad. What you saw in the commercials is exactly what you got, no surprises no curveballs. It's almost how i felt when i saw superman...here you have a character physically capable of anything and you come up with the most hum drum action scenes. Hancock had better action then either of those. marvel would have been better served redoing daredevil, which of course i didn't even bother to watch...ben affleck! give me a break. what you guys look for in super hero movies? I'm perfectly willing to let films stray from the source material if they understand the essence and approach with some imagination, that's what i look for, that and a good director of photography.

Metal Gear Solid 4
I think we should all just refer to Metal Gear Solid 4 as an experience...an amazing experience. It's too much to get into and I don't want to spoil one thing about it, but it has raised the bar an all forms of entertainment. It has achieved such a high level of artistry and storytelling that I can't imagine not being influenced or inspired by it for years to come. I'm still playing through and eager for a second helping. If at all possible try and experience this masterpiece. Depending on your gaming and or Metal Gear familiarity there may be a bit of a learning curve, but this game is much more accessible then the previous ones and there's many ways too approach the gameplay and controls. It is pure awesomeness.

All in Your Head 24 hour comic

I did this awhile ago but I'm really proud of it the story really worked out well, it's 24 pages i believe and all done working 24 hours straight as part of 24 hour comic day, I may have doodled a rough layout or two but for the most part i just drew the story panel by panel it was so much fun. the first page i started refitting to actual comic format and that's why the lettering is typed. I want to definitely polish this up and publish it as a one shot

These are from my hiatusified strip Welcome to Falling Oaks. http://fallingoaks.com I really had fun doing it and it was a great way to learn and experiment with storytelling, mood pacing color lighting and stuff I hope to bring into my own graphic novels later on. Very soon I'm gonna sit down and write some new episodes, i think it has a very interesting overall story. I'll talk about it more but i think theres some info about it out there at least there used to be
